Create and Edit a Lead

The lead form gathers the contact details, who is working the deal and the dates that pace it. You need very little to get started: just a full name.

Creating a lead

On the Leads page click New lead. The form contains:

FieldWhat it’s for
First name and Last nameThe two parts of the name, kept apart: they feed the customer_name (first name) and customer_last_name variables of contracts and notifications. Both optional.
Full name or companyThis is the mandatory field, and the one shown everywhere in the app. It composes itself from “First Last” until you touch it; from then on it stays as you wrote it — which is exactly why it exists: company names and double first names.
CompanyShown under the name in the list.
Email and PhoneContact details. They are also the fields used to spot duplicates when leads arrive from a webhook or a CSV import, and to tell whether the person is already a client (see below).
SourceWhere the contact came from (for example “Facebook Ads” or “Referral”).
LanguageA dropdown with the five app languages (Italiano, English, Español, Deutsch, Français) plus Not set. It is not a cosmetic detail: it decides the contract language, the language the call draft is transcribed in and the language of the appointment emails, and it helps derive the market.
MarketOnly shown if the agency works on more than one market. The first option, Automatic · <market> (or Automatic · Other sources), tells you which market would be derived today from the form fields; picking one is the manual override.
Setter and CloserWho works the lead. The dropdowns only list members who hold that role.
Discovery callThe date of the first call.
Last follow-upWhen you last spoke. It updates on its own every time you log a follow-up.
Next follow-upThe date that triggers the reminders.
NotesWhat to say next time: this text travels inside the reminders.
Deal statusA free-text line to record where you stand (“waiting for the quote”, “call back in September”).
StatusOpen, Won or Lost. It only appears when editing: a brand-new lead is always Open.
Language and market

Under the Market dropdown, when you are on automatic and have picked a language, a warning may appear: “No market speaks this language…” or “More than one market speaks this language: it is not enough on its own…”. It does not block saving: it tells you that if you want that lead on a specific market you have to pick it by hand. A legacy language value that isn’t recognised shows as Not set and is cleared on save; a recognisable one (“fr-FR”, “francese”) is mapped back to the right language.

Note

If you are not an admin, your own role is pre-filled and locked: a closer is set as the Closer, a setter as the Setter. A setter who isn’t also a closer doesn’t even see the Closer field when creating a lead: the admin or the closer will fill it in later.

The reminder line at the bottom of the form

Below the fields there is a line recalling how reminders work for that lead: “Automatic <channels> reminder every morning at 6 (market time zone) with the leads to contact that day, to the assigned setter and closer”. The hour is fixed and cannot be configured; the only part that changes is the list of active channels (push, email or both), which mirrors the agency’s real configuration. If they are all off, the line says so.

Editing a lead

The full edit form opens from two places: the Edit button on the lead detail page, or the Edit entry in the quick actions menu (right-click, or press and hold the name in the list).

Tip

For everyday work you don’t need the edit form at all: the follow-up dialog updates the date, the notes, the last contact and the status by itself.

If the person is already a client

A person is either a lead or a client, never both. When you save, SalesControl compares the email and phone with those of the agency’s clients:

The check also applies when you edit the email or phone of an existing lead. An existing lead can be edited as usual as long as you leave the email and phone alone. If you mistyped a contact detail, fix it: the warning disappears as soon as you change the field.

Notes and the notes history

When you change the Notes field the previous version isn’t lost: it stays in the notes history on the lead detail page. That’s how you can see how the approach and the situation changed over time.

Date format

In lists and on the detail page lead dates are always shown as DD/MM/YYYY. In forms you use your device’s normal date picker.
