Record from the browser (Chrome extension)

When the bot cannot join the call — meetings restricted to signed-in users, a host who does not admit it, impromptu calls with no appointment — the SalesControl Recorder Chrome extension records the call from your browser and sends it through the same pipeline as the bot: video (or audio only), transcript, AI notes and a note in the lead’s file.

Plan required and where it works

Professional plan or higher, with the consent acknowledgement already accepted by the admin (Admin › Calls). The agency can also turn the extension off for everyone (Admin › Calls › Allow recording from the Chrome extension): the Extension page then says so and every start is refused. Works on Chrome, Edge and Brave on desktop, with Google Meet, Zoom “join from browser” and Teams web. It does not work on Safari or Firefox, with the Zoom and Teams desktop apps, nor from a phone: the bot covers those.

Bot or extension: who records

The bot joins Agenda calls with a video link on its own when the agency has a Recall key and the call is “to record” (automatic, or chosen on the appointment): the Agenda chip says Planned. The extension is started by you, from the browser: the chip says Record from browser. The two never overlap: when the bot is planned for a call, the button in Meet does not appear and a start from the extension is refused.

Install and link the extension

  1. Open My profile and, in the Chrome extension card, click Open the Extension page (the Record from browser chip in the Agenda gets you there too). If the extension is already on the Store you will find Install from the Chrome Web Store; otherwise the page explains how to load it “unpacked” to try it.
  2. Right after installation the extension opens a tab explaining which data it uses (call audio and video only while you record, the address of meeting pages, your name and the computer key) and where it goes. Read it and click I agree and continue: until you accept, the extension collects and sends nothing, and the popup shows only this notice. You can reread it or withdraw consent at any time from the popup › Privacy and consent (withdrawing also unlinks the computer).
  3. Back on the same page click Link extension: the extension receives a personal key for that computer and from then on uploads recordings to your account. The page shows “Linked as <your name>”. The link stays on that computer for good: even if you restart it, close Chrome or sign out of SalesControl.
  4. Pin the extension icon to the Chrome toolbar (puzzle icon → pin) so you can find it during the call.

Unlink (from the popup or the page) removes the link: useful on a shared computer. On the Extension page the Linked devices card lists every linked computer (“This computer” is the one you are using) with its last use: from there you can also unlink a computer you no longer have at hand.

Record a call

  1. Join the meeting. At the bottom right the extension panel appears with the reminder: tell the participants you are recording before you start. The extension is not a participant: nobody sees it.
  2. In Google Meet, in the control bar at the bottom, to the left of the microphone group, there are two controls: the round SalesControl button, blinking until you record, and the Send contract pill (the longer “Send contract with SalesControl” wording shows as a tooltip). Click the round one to record. The first time on that tab Chrome needs a gesture on the extension itself: click its icon at the top right (or Alt+Shift+R) and click the button again — it tells you so. On Zoom web and Teams web: extension icon → Start recording, or Alt+Shift+R (which alone is both the gesture and the start).
  3. Press Start once: “Starting…” shows for a few seconds and a second click does nothing.
  4. The first time Chrome asks for the microphone permission in a separate tab: allow it. Without it only the participants’ audio is recorded and your voice is missing.
  5. During the call the panel shows the red dot and the timer. You can switch tabs: the recording keeps going.
  6. Click Stop (or the button, now red) when you are done. In Meet just press Leave call: the recording stops on its own within a few seconds, and so it does if you close the tab.

In the popup you can turn on Audio only before starting: the file is much smaller (about 30 MB per hour instead of 500) and transcript and notes are identical. The recording page will show the audio player instead of the video. If the agency chose Audio only for everyone (Admin › Calls › Chrome extension), the popup offers no choice and always records audio only.

The button exists from version 1.3.1

In earlier versions the button in the Meet control bar never showed up. If you can’t see it, update the extension to the latest version (in Chrome: menu › Extensions › Manage extensions › Developer mode › Update) and reload the meeting tab. If Meet rebuilds the control bar, the two buttons are put back automatically.

Where the panel shows up

The extension panel is only visible inside the page of a meeting, not on the platform’s service pages:

The Send contract pill only appears on Google Meet and only with the extension linked; it is there even when the bot is recording the call, while the round record button is not.

Which lead gets the recording

On start the extension looks among your Agenda appointments for the one with the same meeting link, or the only one without a link starting within half an hour. If it finds exactly one, the recording is matched (the panel says “Matched to John Smith”). If it finds none or more than one, it does not guess: the recording still starts as To be linked and you pick the lead or client from the popup, during or after the call.

A recording left without a lead can be linked later from its page under Recordings → Link to lead or client. If the notes are already ready, the note goes into the file right then.

What happens if…

Where to find it afterwards

Within a few minutes of the call ending the recording shows up under Recordings with the Extension badge, and in the linked lead’s or client’s page. Notes and transcript work as for the bot, including Apply to lead. The “Stopped by” row says how it ended (manually, tab closed, silence, limit).

If something goes wrong

Participants’ consent

With the extension nobody sees a bot in the meeting: saying you are recording is up to you, at the start of the call, and where the law requires it you need the participants’ consent. The panel reminds you at every start.
